Peony is a 10" bear created with Steiff-Schulte alpaca which was hand-dyed to a mottled pastel pink with hues of peach, purple, and blue. She has Ultrasuede paw pads, glass eyes, and an embroidered nose which was heavily sealed with beeswax and then shaded with oil paint. Peony was completely handmade.
Peony is unusual for me because I usually give the bears larger heads in proportion to their bodies. She has more classic teddy proportions than the typical Peach Peddler bears, which was nice for a change but I went right back to the oversized baby bear heads after her.
Peony placed second in the 2023 URSA Competition in the Pretty In Pink category. After the competition, I added sculpted toes and face shading to add contrast to the pastel shades of her fur.
