April 16, 2026

Storytime: Ok, so last weekend, I had an ASL exam, my weekly math work , then prep for my Anatomy exam the following Tuesday. Before each exam, we have at at-home review Quiz Sunday prior (it's the final piece of my study set).

Fri,/Sat.: I knocked out next week's math. ✓
Saturday: I took my ASL exam early. ✓
Sat./Sun.: Finished up Anatomy review/prep. ✓
Then I completely spaced and forgot to take my Anatomy at-home quiz before the deadline.☠️

My son helped me configure my reminder system (Canvas) checklist for upcoming assignments then installed a failsafe backup reminder system (Campus Extension)-- which  will definitely help in the future. However, in the meantime, I had to see
this notification  on the starting page:

Campus reminder extension is a level of petty we should all aspire to: "Congrats on making it one whole day without dropping the ball! You're on fire!" Just look at that passive- aggressive little 🔥 emoji. If you need me I'll be in the idiot squisher.

It reminded me of that time 23andme sent me a YAY! notification telling me that I was #1 on the leaderboard for the amount of Neanderthal in my DNA compared to my siblings.

Hey, guess what, 23andme:

No. One. Asked. For. That.

🐻 Oh. You're here for bear news? 🐻
I don't plan to offer any bears for relocation until the summertime. I'm sincerely sorry for any disappointment that causes.

I promise: the hiatus is temporary.
Just to be clear: I didn't retire from bear-making.  It's only paused for the moment because the chance to finish up my college degree might be a now-or-never deal. I'll always come back to my bears (I think of new designs I want to sketch out almost daily), it's just that there has to be more that I can do in this life besides creating my bears.  But yeah-- the world still needs more bears, I think we can all agree on that. [It needs more elephants, too-- but my last elephant pattern came out looking very much like a deflated blobfish.
Not my best work.]

You're welcome to check back here (at my site) for bear updates. I'm mostly done with
Facebook and Instagram.
If you really need me, or just want to say "Hi", or send a meme (you know who you are, and you know you're slacking on the memes lately!) you're welcome to email me at   thepeachpeddler@gmail.com
--
but it better be funny! Just kidding, you can email me anytime, about whatever bear-related stuff you want. Don't worry if you don't hear back from me right away... especially as we're nearing finals in my classes. I'll get back in touch as soon as I can.

As always: I hope that you're all staying safe out there, and looking out for each other... filming and documenting anything untoward.

And while I'm bossing everyone around: Please support your local libraries and universities. Check in on your neighbors, make sure they're ok. Even if you can only do a little, do something.

"It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule."

-Gandalf [but you already knew that]
